Weight Loss

So I started this blog long ago and thought I would continue on with it since I get asked quiet often how I have lost so much weight.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I found out in January 2011 that I had Gestational Diabetes. With that came a very strict low carb diet, insulin shots, exercise and checking my blood sugar 4 times a day. The day I found out I was pregnant I weighed 280 pounds. The day I went to the hospital to have her I weighed 270 pounds. So the diet I was on was already working to my benefit for weight loss. By the time by daughter was 6 weeks old I had lost 35 pounds. Not from trying, because once she was born I ate all the things that I couldn't while I was pregnant. After my 6 week checkup my husband and I decided to continue on the low carb diet that I was on while I was pregnant since it had worked so well. We did that from late May until the end of June. We both lost 10 pounds in a month, which was great but when we went home to visit family for the 4th of July we gained it all back very quickly because we werent doing our low carb diet while we were there. So when we came back home from visiting family we joined Weight Watchers.

The highest I have even been is 290. Since joining WW I have lost 32, as of last Friday. Since April of 2011 I have lost 82 pounds. My goal is to be at 180 by April 13, 2012(100 pounds lost in a year) and to my goal weight of 130-150 by the end of 2012, that is 50-70 pounds to go. I currently weigh 198, as of last Friday.
The highest my husband has been is 300. Since joining WW my husband has lost 50 pounds. Since 2007 he has lost 90 pounds. His goal is to be 160 by the end of 2012, that is 50 pounds to go. He currently weighs 210, as of last Friday.

Out of all the diets I have done over the years I have found that weight watchers is the easiest because it is more of a lifestyle than a actual diet. I have tried counting calories, atkins, slim fast, metabolic research and weight watchers. WW is real. It's not super strict, you get extra points each week so that you can have foods that you want and still lose weight, plus you get activity points. Having a iPhone makes it even easier because there is a app that you can track young points on plus you don't have to buy any of there food. In the app you can figure out how many points anything is based on the nutritional value. Plus there are many websites that you can check out to get point values for eatting out. That is one thing to losing weight is being real and knowing that you are not going to be able to cook every single night. When we do eat out it is usually at McAlister's Deli or Chick-fil-a. Also, almost all fruits and veggies have no points on weight watchers. I will do a later post on some of my favorite no point snacks.

We do not attend WW meetings, we signed up online and it works for us. You have to find what works for you. A key part of weight loss is having a support system. My husband is that for me. He is very encouraging! Even when I don't have a good week or 2 he keeps me focused. I go to the gym every evening on Mon-Thur and walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes and I take a 1 hour tennis class once a week. Before December I never worked out consistently, I would walk around out neighborhood when I had time or felt like it. I never enjoyed exercising before. EVERYTHING HURT! Now I enjoy it, I see the work paying off and even when I do have a bad week and gain I still want to go because I know that the week was bad because of the choices that I made in food.

If me losing weight is an inspiration to even one person and helps them to be able to lose weight then I will be happy!

These are the sites that I use for eatting out. There are lots of recipe sites as well, if you use google.
